Why should I elope in downtown Spokane?

Right in the heart of Spokane is the vibrant and bustling downtown Spokane, also known as Riverside. It’s such a great spot in the city, and is definitely a walkable area for food, nightlife, and the cutest shops! Whether you’re in the mood for a laid-back meal or a trendy night out, the neighborhood is packed with options of all tastes! There is so much to offer here, which is great for guests that travel for your wedding! They will not be bored, and will have plenty to do. Or even if you choose to elope only with your partner, you have an entire weekend of fun to do!

Throughout this neighborhood, there are so many beautifully restored buildings that add to the area’s charm and character. One example is the Historic Davenport Hotel, which dates back to 1914 and has incredibly intricate architectural details both inside and out. Another highlight is the Martin Woldson Theater at the Fox; this building serves as the home of the Spokane Symphony! See? I’m telling you… this place is packed with history and fun!

I would say, one of the most unique features of Downtown Spokane is its location. This city is home to Riverfront Park, a huge green space that offers opportunities for fun and relaxation! Take a spin on the carousel, or soar high above Spokane Falls on the cable ride for an unforgettable experience. After shopping, food and drinks, come here to relax in the grass and take in the city.

When to elope in Downtown Spokane Washington

As a photographer, I am in love with Spokane’s unique and expressive skies, which are often cloudy but nevertheless stunning. Although the weather is not always sunny and warm, it has a certain charm that makes it a photographer’s dream come true! Spokane’s climate is distinct from that of Western Washington, being much drier and warmer during the summer months.

Here’s a detailed look at what you can expect in each season: Spring: As the season progresses, the days get warmer but the nights remain chilly, with temperatures in the low 30’s. You might still see some snow during this time, but the sun begins to shine more frequently, allowing the flowers to bloom and the trees to bud! Summer: this is the perfect time to explore Spokane, with temperatures averaging around 83 degrees during July and August. The skies are clear, and the days are long, giving you ample time to experience all that the area has to offer. Whether you want to hike, bike, or simply relax by the river, the options are endless.

Fall: As Autumn arrives, the weather starts to cool off, with crisp mornings and warm, sunny afternoons. The temperature during the first half of the season averages around 70’s and 60’s, with lows in the low 40’s or high 30’s. This is a beautiful time of the year, especially for outdoor enthusiasts looking to explore the region in comfort! Winter: As winter sets in, Spokane transforms into a magical winter wonderland. Temperatures drop to the low 20’s, and the area is blanketed in snow, making it the perfect time to visit one of the surrounding ski resorts. Whether you enjoy skiing, snowboarding, or simply spending time in the snow, Spokane’s winters are truly a sight to behold!

Eloping is a fantastic way to get married, and one of the best parts of eloping is having the option to get married any day of the week! If you want to avoid crowds and have a peaceful environment, choosing a weekday for your elopement would be ideal. You can enjoy the beauty of the place without any rush and distraction. Also, it will be more cost-effective to plan the wedding during the week as there will be fewer people around, and vendors may offer lower prices. If you are planning to get married in Spokane, it would be best to check the calendar of events before finalizing the wedding date. By clicking that link, you can ensure there isn’t an event that might clash with your wedding day! You don’t want to be saying “I do” while there is a marathon happening, or a food festival that attracts a lot of people. By doing a little research beforehand, you can make sure that your elopement in Spokane is a memorable and enjoyable experience for you and your partner.

Elopement Vendors

It’s time to start booking any other vendors you may need for your elopement day! Marriage License

Next up, you’ll need to obtain your marriage license. In Washington State, there is a 3-day waiting period, and you will need to apply either in person or via mail. If you are applying in person, make sure you schedule enough time to allow for the waiting period. If you are applying via mail, you will need to sign the application in front of a Notary Public.

The application process costs $62 and is payable by cash, check, or credit/debit card (however there is a processing fee for credit/debit cards)

For more information, please look at the marriage license page of the Spokane County website.
