Welcome to Bozeman, Montana, where you will see babies in bars and children crawling on pool tables. But these are a few options for parents to enjoy a beer and delicious food while having a yummy meal! I do not have kids, but after being a server for five years and going out with friends, I have left my notes page open for the best places to bring kids. I am going to kick off with breakfast spots, then go to lunch and dinner, and end it all with ice cream!
Jam: I worked here for 3 years! They are known to have long lines, so if you want to run across the street to grab the kid’s Stuffed crepes to keep them happy, I highly suggest that. They have a kid’s coloring menu and will keep bringing all the necessary crayons. Everything on the adult menu can be bought as a kid’s size. But the most ordered things were pancakes, scrambled eggs, and freshly squeezed OJ.
Stuffed: They now have two locations in Bozeman! If you are looking for a quick and fast breakfast, Stuffed is a great option! They have sweet and savory crepes with many options for coffee, tea, and juice. The lobby is a little small, but they have a lot of outdoor seating. If you go to the downtown Stuffed, they are next to Country Bookshelf, which has a great kids’ section in the back!
Freshies: If you visit the Museum of the Rockies with the kiddos, I suggest going here before or after. I am telling you about this cafe because it has a sweet little kids’ nook with toys to play with under the stairs. I am not going to lie; Freshies isn’t going to be your favorite place you ate in Bozeman. But they offer healthy options for the kids; it’s just a little overpriced.
Granny’s: Only open on weekends! But if you need a sugar fix, Granny’s is perfect! The staff there is kind to kids and lets them dip their donuts into sprinkles! It’s cash only, so break open your kid’s piggy banks!
Nova Cafe: This is my favorite diner-styled restaurant for kids in Bozeman because the staff is so fast, there is plentiful seating, and there are friendly servers! They have Gilled Cheese, a kiddo burrito, a Mickey Mouse-shaped buttermilk pancake, and waffles!
Farmer’s Daughter: This is a fun space that your kids and parents will love! They have a sweet little kid’s table and unique outdoor seating options that you will want to snap pictures of your kids on. They have a great kid’s smoothie, grilled cheese, turkey wrap, Livvy Lou’s Go To (scrambled eggs, avocado, and berry compote)
Mountains Walking Brewery: The parents that opened this brewery are always running around the shop with their kids, so they thought through families coming in for a night out. Tiny Tots, Super Fries, Chicken Littles, Mighty Pretzel, Kids Cheese Pizza, and Lil’Pep Pizza can come with Fruits, Veggies, Apples, Carrots, or fries.
Mackenzie River: I grew up going to Mackenzie River! It’s my favorite of all time! The lodge poles are life-giving. MacKenzie River first opened in Bozeman 25 years ago. Their menu offers some unique signature pizzas, flatbreads, yummy sandwiches, pasta, and salads. MacKenzie offers a great kids’ menu with various options, including their Mack n’ Cheese pizza!
Sidewinders: One of the restaurants on Bozeman’s west side, Sidewinders offers a great mix of American fare, including a kid’s menu with burgers, pizza, chicken fingers, and quesadillas. Another great amenity at Sidewinders is their game room to keep the kids entertained while waiting for the food. For adults, Sidewinders offers similar menu options with a more extensive variety of choices. For beer lovers, Sidewinders has a large selection of beers from all over the country on tap and a full bar.
Audrey’s Pizza Oven and Free Fall Brewing: Though Audrey’s Pizza has been a longtime resident of Bozeman, they recently reopened in a new location with the addition of Freefall Brewery. Offering a variety of specialty pizzas and sandwiches, there’s something for everyone on the menu at Audrey’s. But the real bonus for kids is the arcade! While the adults enjoy some locally brewed beer, the kids can have fun with a selection of arcade games.
Bridger Brewing: This is just our all-time favorite and consistent place! It’s super family-friendly, with comfortable seating and free games to play at the table, and they offer cups with lids and straws for the kids. You can build your own pizza to whatever the kids want.
Rib and Chophouse: Kids will love their kid’s meals served in a classic car box with a side of fries, while parents can savor steaks voted the best in two states, along with Rib & Chop’s signature Rocky Mountain Hospitality.
Montana Ale Works: Serving Bozeman for over 20 years, Montana Ale Works’ prime Main Street location and nightly specials are a hit with locals and visitors alike. With a Kid’s Menu offering standard kids’ fare and some additions from the grill, you can go right with the kiddos. For adults, you can taste Montana with elk or bison burgers (plus regular beef) or the Montana Meatloaf. They also have a full bar with seasonal cocktail specials and brews from all over, featuring plenty of local Bozeman beers on tap.
Seven Sushi: Luckily for parents, Seven Sushi includes a great selection of Sushi plus some additional Asian-style entrees that the kids who don’t love Sushi can enjoy while you indulge that craving. Their sweet fries are a great shareable app that kids and adults alike will enjoy! They have a huge location with tons of seating options and quick service.
Fiesta Mexicana: All dishes are made with original and authentic recipes created by the restaurant’s owners, with a touch of Mexican flavors that characterize the dishes. You can feed each kid for about $8. They offer a kids’ burrito, grilled cheese, chicken strips, and quesadilla.
The Roost: Roost Fried Chicken is Bozeman, Montana’s eclectic Southern restaurant that offers family-approved, traditional recipes with a twist here and there. Our menu will remind you of mom’s cooking, while others may surprise you. Our approach is based on fresh ingredients with a friendly, contagious energy. Kid’s meals are all $7! They have chicken nuggets, chicken legs, and chicken and waffles. They also have lemonade, soft drinks, and tea. They have a fun patio in the summer and winter!
Naked Noodle: This is an excellent option for picky eaters because they personalize every meal for you. They offer a primary base for you, like penne and red sauce, ramen and chicken broth, and mac and cheese. Then you can add chicken, meatballs, or a veggie. They can easily eat for $10 per kid.
Red Tractor Pizza: Another build-your-own option in a cozy family pizza joint. All the pizzas are gluten-free and have a local grain pizza crust. They offer beer and wine for the parents but also have Italian cream sodas, booch, and fountain drinks.
Sweet Peaks: The shop on 7th and Main is close to the downtown core and the neighborhoods surrounding the university. Adventures are found at every turn, and the store reflects this culture.
Genuine: Genuine Ice Cream is locally made, with premium ingredients and house-perfected recipes. We go for small batches with big flavors. Try one of our timeless classics or indulge in our new seasonal recipes — bold, wild, and simple, just like Big Sky Country.
Michoacan A Pedir De Boca: When you want something sweet and refreshing, turn to a local ice cream shop. Michoacan A Pedir De Boca USA in Bozeman, MT is the place to be. Our ice cream and popsicle flavors are naturally delicious, and we make our tantalizing treats using fresh ingredients. They also have a drive-thru if you want to avoid getting the kids out of the car.
